Here are a few of the cups I have been working on. Once I throw and trim the pieces and they have gone through the first firing I design stencils out of masking tape that get applied to the surface of the pieces. After the stencil is applied I dip each piece in glaze and then slowly peel off the tape. The area where the tape was covering remains with out glaze and simply darkens in color creating the contrasting image. I decided to do an animal series for a few of them.
